Wow, I can't believe how fast the time goes. It seems like just a few short weeks ago we were basking in the warm summer breezes. Here it is time to start thinking about the New Year already! I had a lovely Christmas. However the celebrations are not yet over. My son and his girlfriend will be coming from out of state in the middle of January and so my husband and I will celebrate with them and my daughter and her boyfriend. On Christmas Day, we celebrated with my husbands three children, my sisters, brother in laws, nieces, nephews and little ones. We had a wonderful day and it was all over too fast. Kind of like a wedding where there is so much time spent in the preparations and in a blink of an eye, the celebration is over. I love the idea of Christmas and the joy of giving. I wish I could afford to give more to more people, like the less fortunate. We always hear about so many worthy causes at Christmas time that we could give to and I always feel like I would like to give to all of them. Thank goodness for churches that reach out to those who have little or nothing. At this time of year, I thank God for all He has given me and that I feel very fortunate for all the good in my life. I hope you feel the same.
I just finished my second ever craft fair! The craft fair was held at Menomonee Falls High School and was called the Jingle Bell craft fair. I spent the last couple weeks making more jewelry for the fair. I put together some Christmas earrings, necklaces and bracelets. But surprisingly enough, the items I did sell today were not Christmas items....go figure! It just goes to show that you never know what people are going to be interested in and you have to have enough variety. I also heard more than one comment from shoppers that there were quite a few jewelry booths at this fair. People who aren't in the market for jewelry aren't going to be interested no matter what you've made. And those people that are interested, you have to have something different from everyone else. My jewelry is pretty much one-of-a-kind pieces. I come up with an idea and I make it. When I'm done making that piece I see what strikes my fancy based on my supplies and go from there. That way you're not stuck with a whole lot of the same thing that nobody wants.
All in all, I'm happy with the fair today. Obviously, I would've liked to have made more sales but you can't put a price on the experience. I learned some things today, about myself, my booth and my merchandise. So, I take that and move on to my next show. And to top it all off, as I was packing up my stuff at the end of the day, the lady in charge of the craft fair said that I had won the Free Booth For Next Year raffle! WOO HOO!! I didn't even know there was such a thing.
So, life is good. I love making jewelry. I love watching people's reactions to my items. I love learning more and more about making jewelry and how to market it, how to come up with new ideas and the feeling of self worth that this experience has given me.
I want to say a special thank you to my husband, Bud, who has encouraged me all the way! Thanks, honey, for your support and all your grunt work too! I love you!
Well, I decided to start a blog on my website. I've never really blogged before so hopefully it'll be fun and interesting. I invite you to make comments or whatever you do on a blog!!! I have a lot to learn, I guess.
Today I am turning in my application to be a vendor at the Jingle Bell Craft Fair held at the Menomonee Falls High School in Menomonee Falls, WI. This is my second ever craft fair and I am very excited. The first craft fair I did, I was a vendor at King of Glory Lutheran Church in Greenfield, WI last Saturday. I did okay, it got my feet wet; now I'm ready to roll!!
I am also going to be doing a Facebook business website once I figure out how to do that also :)
Today I will be adding more jewelry to my website; jewelry that I finished for my craft fair last Saturday but didn't get a chance to add to my website yet. I hope you enjoy the jewelry!
Let me know what you think of my jewelry, my website, my blog etc. What is your
